Pregnancy & Labor Awareness
The best childbirth education speaks to both our logical mind and our deep inner knowledge–our thought processes and our emotional and spiritual health. Although Laurie covers common topics such as the physiology and anatomy of pregnancy, fetal development and labor, she also focuses on areas such as pregnancy gratitude, body movement and habits, emotional and spiritual preparation. Every parent will create a birth plan as well as learn about local hospitals and protocols, and how they might benefit or detract from your labor and birth goals.

“Knowing isn’t just in the mind.”

Birth Processing
Whether it’s your first or fifth pregnancy–understanding your own birth story, the stories of your family, and personal previous labor and birth choices and outcomes is beneficial. Processing your pregnancy, and if necessary, healing from previous experiences will empower you to grow and potentially achieve your pregnancy, labor and birth goals.
“Birth is transformative. Our bodies remember.”

Partner/Support Person Education
Some families desire the benefits of a doula, but may not feel compelled to have a doula present at the birth. In this case, Laurie provides guidance and education to the support person(s) the parent(s) have chosen to have present. She covers advocacy, comfort measures, normal birth sounds and movements. You may alternatively choose to hire Laurie for phone support during the labor.
